    Hi everyone,

I’m currently creating a Dragonborn character for my D&D campaign and I want their name to feel authentic and true to the lore. I know Dragonborn names often have a draconic or noble feel, sometimes with harsh consonants or flowing syllables, and I’m trying to avoid generic fantasy names.

I’d love suggestions for first names and surnames that reflect strength, honor, or heritage. Also, if anyone has tips on naming conventions or cultural influences within Dragonborn societies, that would be incredibly helpful. What are your favorite Dragonborn names and why?

    Thanks!

    Hey!

For Dragonborn names, the key is combining draconic-sounding first names with surnames that reflect heritage or accomplishments. First names often have sharp consonants or flowing syllables, for example Arjhan, Balasar, Kava, Rhogar, Sivash. Surnames can signify honor, lineage, or traits such as Firebreath, Stormwarden, Ironfang, Bloodscale, Dragonsbane.

When choosing Dragonborn names, a helpful tip is that Dragonborn from noble families often have grand, formal surnames, while those of adventuring backgrounds might adopt names earned through deeds. A strong combination I like is Rhogar Thunderclaw as it sounds proud, memorable, and very draconic.
