My father bought a Body Sculpture BC-5710G elliptical trainer, which I assembled myself. The problem is that, even at the lowest resistance level, it is difficult to pedal as if it were set to the maximum. Nothing is jammed or squeaking, but the pedals are stiff from the first movement. Did I assemble it incorrectly, or is this normal? Did I miss something in the instructions?

Hello. I work in a small garage gym where we regularly get these elliptical trainers, so this is a typical situation. I always check the diagram in the instructions, and I usually refer to this website if you’ve lost the paper version: https://manualmachine.com/bodysculpture/bc5710g/7074730-user-manual/ . The BC-5710G has magnetic resistance. If the handle was not in the minimum position during assembly, the cable will immediately pull the magnet to the flywheel. This makes it difficult to turn, even at “1.” Loosen it, and it will become easier to turn. This is not a malfunction.
