During a hybrid project last year, our team struggled with timing. Some people were in the office, others remote, and interruptions felt random. One teammate placed a small 360° LED orb on his desk and synced it with his status. Suddenly it was clearer when he was busy or free, even on video calls. Can tools like this really smooth workflow across both office and remote setups?

Whether it’s a light, a status icon, or body language, the goal seems the same: reduce guesswork. In mixed teams especially, having a shared visual cue can align expectations without extra meetings or explanations.

From what I’ve noticed, those indicators help more with expectations than with rules. In our office, we tried something similar after too many “quick” interruptions. The 360° visibility mattered because you could see the status from anywhere, not just straight on. Remote teammates also appreciated it since the colors matched calendar and call states. If you want a clear example, you can check out the Luxafor Orb to see how that idea is implemented. In daily work, it reduced tapping on shoulders and unnecessary pings. People waited a bit longer or left notes instead. What surprised me was how fast it became normal. Nobody explained it much, yet everyone adapted. It didn’t stop collaboration, it just made timing feel more respectful across different work modes.
