Biggest trap for me isn’t even watching, it’s scrolling. I open googara “just to check what’s there”, and suddenly 40 minutes are gone while I read synopses and watch trailers without picking anything. By the time I finally make a choice, it’s already late and I’m too tired to enjoy the film. It’s like going to a huge buffet and leaving hungry because you couldn’t decide what to put on your plate.

Whenever I end up on that site, I try to set a timer for 10 minutes. If I don’t choose something within that window, I close it and either rewatch an old favourite from another app or just read instead. Another trick is to limit myself to three trailers max; after the third one, I must pick one of them or walk away. Sounds silly, but having a small rule like that keeps me from falling into “infinite browse mode” where nothing ever feels good enough and I just keep searching.

It also helps to decide in advance what mood you’re in: light comedy, serious drama, action, whatever. When you open a catalogue with no idea what you want, your brain will throw you in every direction. With a rough mood in mind, it’s easier to skip 80% of titles immediately. And if nothing fits that mood, maybe it’s not a movie night after all. Forcing yourself to watch “something, anything” rarely leads to a satisfying evening.
