Many people who take Adderall — or consider switching to Modafinil — often wonder how long these focus-enhancing medications stay in the body. On average, Adderall stays in your system for about 48 to 72 hours after your last dose. The active ingredients, amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, have a half-life of around 10 to 13 hours, meaning it takes that long for half of the drug to be eliminated from your body. Compared to Modafinil, which generally lasts 12–15 hours with a smoother, non-jittery effect, Adderall tends to leave the system faster but may cause a more noticeable crash once it wears off.

    For most people:

Urine tests detect Adderall for up to 3–4 days.

Blood tests detect it for about 24 hours.

Saliva tests can show it for 1–2 days.

Hair tests may reveal Adderall use for up to 90 days.

Several factors — like body weight, dosage, metabolism, hydration, and liver function — can influence how long Adderall stays in your system. Extended-release versions (Adderall XR) typically last longer than the immediate-release form.
