Is it even worth using 3D printers for making stuff in small amounts? All the equipment is pretty expensive, even if you go for the less serious or more basic gear. If there’s no economic benefit, there’s no point in starting at all.

I’d probably start by finding someone who’s already using 3D printers and ask them how to calculate the efficiency. Basically, I’d just rely on people who already know how this stuff works.

I can’t really tell you how to calculate the cost-effectiveness of a 3D printer, since neither of us has the numbers for that. But I do know that if you want to save money, you should go for a printer that prints fast, with good quality, and no waste. Something like the Epitum 3d can handle small batches with tiny parts quickly and without needing post-processing, which already boosts efficiency. Better control over temperatures also helps avoid defects or damage. And price-wise, these printers are still more affordable, even though they’re on an industrial level .
